Concussion in Youth Sports

  [close]

The Mississippi Youth Concussion Law of 2014 requires that concussion education be made available for parents and other interested Mississippians.

Most concussions occur without loss of consciousness, but they still carry the potential for injury. Recognition and proper response to concussions when they first occur can help prevent further injury or even death.

For Parents, Coaches and the Public

The MSDH endorses the CDC's Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sport online courses as a resource for educating Mississippi's coaches, parents, and athletes on the nature and risk of concussions in youth.

Specific instructional videos are provided for youth and high school coaches, trainers, school professionals, and sports officials.
