Pelahatchie Bay Water System has issued a Boil-Water Alert for customers who receive their drinking water from their water supply located in Rankin County.

This is a precautionary notice. This notice is the result of a busted 6" water main. Note from the system: We will take the first of the sample from the affected area starting on Thursday, May 30, 2024. This boil water notice will be in effect until we receive clear sampling. For more information customers may contact 601-856-6574 or comments@therez.ms.

When a distribution system loses pressure, contaminants can siphon back into the water. Public health officials consider any system that loses pressure contaminated until tests prove otherwise. Health officials strongly recommend that all water be boiled vigorously for one minute before it is consumed.
